Under the light of this theory, the thesis focuses on the characters of Doris Lessing‟s The Grass is Singing, Nadine Gordimer‟s The Lying Days and J.M Coetzee‟s Disgrace, who are striving for a sense of self after years of relegation, subjugation and oppression and how they are able to find a voice to for themselves through hybridity.
