Cataloged from PDF version of thesis. Includes bibliographical references (page 54). “Multiple Narratives and Postmodernism Techniques: A study of Jorge Luis Borges and Thomas Pynchon” is a study of certain themes prevalent in both South and North America prevalent in some selected texts of these two authors. The attributes of identity, spirituality, sexuality, personhood and fusion with dichotomies is the main crux of this thesis. The selected texts are Borges’ The Aleph and The Book of Sand with Pynchon’s Gravity’s Rainbow and The Crying of Lot 49. Despite Pynchon being a postmodernist writer and Borges associated with magic realism the thesis explores similar avenues of contact between the two disciplines and shows a more elaborated expanse of how we perceive and retain self/selves.
