Early childhood development. This thesis is submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Early Childhood Development, 2024. Cataloged from PDF version of thesis. Includes bibliographical references (pages 39-47). This qualitative study explores the perceptions of working mothers of having daycares at the workplace. The research aims to investigate the experiences and perspectives of working mothers. Through in-depth interviews, the research uncovers working mothers' understanding of workplace daycare, their childcare practices while they are at work, the roles workplace daycares play, and the challenges they face with workplace daycares and their expectations as well. The research findings indicate that while workplace daycare is generally perceived positively, there are few important concerns regarding its quality, availability, and alignment with working mothers’ needs. Additionally, the study identifies factors influencing the decision-making process for utilizing workplace daycare, including cost and caregivers’ training and qualifications. Recommendations derived from the study may help policymakers and employers on how to enhance workplace daycare facilities to better support working mothers and create a supportive work environment for them. The research reveals that workplace daycare is essential for supporting working mothers improving their work-life balance & productivity, and their children ensuring sound development in different domains. This study highlights recommendations for workplace daycares which include ensuring qualified and trained caregivers, offering flexible scheduling, providing affordable services, implementing different safety measures.
