Cataloged from PDF version of thesis. Includes bibliographical references (pages 26-31). Introduction: The aim of the study is to assess the efficacy of cisplatin combinations with paclitaxel, gemcitabine and vinorelbine for the first line treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. Methods: The Cochrane library, PubMed. ClinicalTrials.gov were used to retrieve report. The included clinical trials and randomized controlled trials (RCT) were evaluated for hazard ratios of the overall survival (OS) and Progression Free Survival (PFS). The statistical analysis was performed using JASP and CMA. PRISMA guidelines were used to evaluate themethodology. Results: The hazard ratio found for CV, CG and CP are 0.76 (0.68,0.84), 0.88 (0.79,0.97) and 0.81 (0.65,0.97) respectively for OS and 0.71 (0.47,0.96), 0.69 (0.43,0.96) and = 0.65 (0.53,0.77) for PFS respectively. The hazard ratio of the subgroup analysis of OS and PFS ofall combinations is HR = 0.825 ( 0.806,0.894) and HR =0.694 (0.563,0.856) respectively. Conclusions: cisplatin combined with vinorelbine, gemcitabine, and paclitaxel have shown statically significant improved efficacy and safety in terms of treatment of NSCLC as compared to other available treatments Inaya Islam B.
