Weaving--Bangladesh. This thesis is submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Architecture, 2022. Cataloged from PDF version of thesis. Includes bibliographical references (pages 61). Jamdani is regarded as one of the most exquisite revelations among the weavers' artistic talents in Bangladesh. In 2013, UNESCO designated Jamdani's traditional art as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and it was granted Geographical Indication (GI) designation. The intricate process of putting individual fibers into fabrics is delicate and worth of high praise and recognition. The weavers, who play a major role in the growth of the country's textile sector, are in reality, denied basic needs and minimal reimbursement for a decent living. The traditional craft of weaving Jamdani is currently confronted with a glorious past, a complicated present, and an uncertain future – regrettably crawling towards the verge of extinction. This paper deals with the strategical design chosen for the benefit of the weavers' community, focusing on the marginal group of weavers with a questionable economic state and vulnerable living conditions. The project is a network of functions – interweaving traditional values and ensuring sustainable living condition for the targeted weaving community that also allows local and global visitors from all over the world to appreciate, observe, and learn.
