Due to their medicinal potential for treating many illnesses, their bioactive components are extremely important. They frequently fall under the category of functional foods because they not only give essential nourishment but also physiological advantages or prevent chronic illness. Due to its anti-oxidant, anti-microbial, and gastro-protective components, black pepper (Piper Nigrum L.) is a significant healthy food. Piperine, the active component in black pepper, is part of a complex phytochemistry that also includes volatile oil, oleoresins, and alkaloids. More recently, animal modelling and research on cell cultures anticipated that black pepper effectively treats a variety of diseases. The current view of this study is to highlight the different therapeutic importance of Piper nigrum as well as its future prospects and drawbacks which can be solved using various modern approaches.
