This thesis is submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Pharmacy, 2022. Cataloged from PDF version of thesis. Includes bibliographical references (pages 40-46). Epilepsy is perhaps the most well-known form of brain disorder. Action potential eruption describes a specific kind of neuronal discharge, and physiological processes are required for epileptic activities. Therefore, epileptic discharges are a replay of an overactive brain function that has been dysregulated. The causes of epilepsy are not specified; viral infections, bacterial infections, malnutrition, traumatic brain injury, cerebrovascular disease, and brain tumors are responsible for this. This study tries to find the underlying causes and therapies related to epilepsy. For this, research articles, news stories, academic publications, and government websites such as pubmed.com were used to compile this extensive literature assessment on the history of the origin of epilepsy and the gene therapies related to epilepsy.
