This dissertation focuses on three novels by Morrison, namely, The Bluest Eve, Sula and Beloved to identify problems that black women face in a society because they are black women. So, the first chapter of this thesis attempts to give a study of feminist literary theory. The second chapter a short historical background of black feminism and aesthetics in America, and the place of Toni Morrison in this tradition. The third chapter probes into a critical analysis of the three novels that have been chosen. The fourth chapter draws conclusion by assessing the various responses of these women whom society has placed in difficult and complex situation.
