Cataloged from PDF version of thesis. Includes bibliographical references (pages 67-76). Parenting knowledge about child development is correlated with parent-child interactions and the likelihood of parents‟ engagement in practices that promote children‟s quality development focusing on physical health and safety, emotional and behavioral competence, social competence, and cognitive competence (Akinsola, 2011). A significant number of Bangladeshi children face developmental risk factors related to caregiving practice, and there is a gap between knowledge and practice concerning early child development among Bangladeshi parents (Begum, 2019). This research attempted to explore the parents‟ perception about parenting knowledge on child development in the early years. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and group discussion. This study discovered that most of the parents‟ have the concept on child development in the early years, but there have been gaps in their knowledge and practices. However, it was found that if they get an opportunity to disseminate knowledge among them, it will help them to reinforce their knowledge about child development that helps them practice activities related to child development.
