The steep growth of learning English for communicative purposes all over Asia, in the primary and secondary level, has given rise to expectations from adults to be able to have a general fluency and correct pronunciation while speaking in English after they finish university or when they look for jobs. There is a lack of knowledge about English proficiency, among the L2 speakers who could become an ‘ideal’ for these learners. On the other hand, with access to the global culture online sources, the adult non-native speakers easily can make their own ‘role model’, beyond the stereotype, whom they want to imitate, in terms of speaking English. After an extensive literature review, it has been noticed that there havenot been adequate investigations done on the attitudes the adult speakers of Dhaka city have toward, or what quality they expect from a role-model. This research will focus on the general attitudes of the adult non-native English speakers of Dhaka city towards having a role model, possible factors and the impact on their social status, communication, and occupation. The findings of this research will also give further insights into the depth of the problem and also be beneficial for future researchers to come up with solutions.
